Those nice fellas over at Alpkit.com have done it again. The
latest edition to their range of top kit is a lightweight sleeping
bag dubbed the PipeDream.
The
new bag follows in the footsteps of their impressive AlpineDream bags
- see links below this article for our test - but use ultra-lightweight Pertex
Quantum fabric to cut weight along with a trimmer cut than the
AlpineDream. It's aimed squarely at adventure racers, lightpackers
and alpinists.
The bags use a proven box-wall construction to minimise cold spots
and 90/10 700+ (European scale) fill power white goose down. Shape is
classic 'mummy' with an elasticated cowl drawcord to cinch the hood
down, baffles in all the right places and top quality YKK zips.
Thebags come with three sacks as well - a big storage bag, a four-way
compression sac and a Quantum stuff bag - which is a nice touch.
There are two PipeDreams in the range, the PipeDream 400
which is comfort-rated at -3 C and the warmer PipeDream 600
which should keep you happy down to -7 C. Weights are 770 grammes for
the 400 and 980 grammes for the 600.
As usual with AlpKit, prices are super reasonable thanks to their
web-only operation at £100 and £120 respectively.
