Comfort Mapping Is Latest Gore-Tex Development

By Jon

Pssst.... we're probably not meant to tell you this, but Gore's latest development is something called Comfort Mapping and it's going to be big later this year with the likes of Berghaus, Lowe Alpine, TNF, MHW., ME, Haglofs and others all using it in their ranges.

What is it? We should be able to tell you a lot more next month after being spirited to Tenerife for an arduous testing weekend on Spain's highest beach, erm, sorry, mountain, but here's a quick outline.

Apparently it's all about using different Gore-Tex fabrics to match the differing reqirements of different parts of your body, which is, says Gore, 'a landscape with different climatic zones and temperatures'.

It's been done before, particularly with baselayers and some softshell garments, but Gore will be using Comfort Mapping for garments made mainly from XCR, for a zoned Gore-Tex soft shell and using their interesting inflatable Airvantage technology.

Marketing hype or a real benefit? We should be in a better position to tell you next month, so watch this space.
