We've decided that the OUTDOORSmagic Travel pages are looking a little thin on the ground, given all the miles of turf and ice OMers have covered in the last year. So, it's time to spice them up with a few anecdotes of sweeping panoramas, freak mountain storms, and high altitude adrenalin. We might need a hand though as there is an unfortunate limit to how many holidays we can go on ourselves:-) Instead, we're asking you to send us your travel stories by the end of May, and the writer of the best one will receive a free Stormlite Tunnel 200 tent, courtesy of Field and Trek. So, if you have any memories that look a bit like the photos below then drop us a line.

Nymph Lake, Rocky Mountains, by Dave Mycroft

Winter Alpenglow, by Andrew Terrill
In the last twelve months we've seen photos in the gallery of (deep breath here): Norway, Iceland, the Pyrenees, the Dolomites, Sierra Nevada, the Southern Alps, the Annapurna Circuit, the Kathmandu Valley, the Julian Alps, Mount McKinley, Kilimanjaro, Colorado, the Chamonix Valley, Everest Base Camp, Antarctica, Chile, Tunisia, Corsica, the Ciucas Mountains, Peru, the Lake District, Snowdonia, the Cairngorms, the Highlands, and the Peak District. If there are any mountain ranges we've missed, some of you have probably been there too. Unfortunately, once we've seen the photos, and drooled over them, we don't often hear anything more.
Wise outdoor-types that we are, we know that most hiking and climbing trips don't take place without a good few moments of excitement. Whether it's a navigational error that turns into a complete epic, or a sudden change in the weather that has the same effect, it might well make a good story. Equally, if you completed an exhilarating climb in clear blue skies, or stumbled on a particularly spectacular panorama, it might inspire another OMer ... or make them jealous:-) Either way, I'm sure they'd be grateful.
So, get scribbling. If you'd care to share the practical details of how you got to your destination, where you stayed, and how you travelled around, some of us wouldn't mind plagiarising your holiday itinerary:-) Or you can throw in amusing anecdotes, descriptions of the highlights of the trip, or a general travelogue of what you climbed and how you rated it.
Stories should be sent to susan@magicalia.com. We'd love to hear them all year round but if you want to compete for the Stormlite tent then make sure you send them by 31st May. We'll be putting the best ones up on the site as and when they reach us, so everyone can have a browse.
