Deuter's New Lightweight Day Pack Range

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

A quick heads' up on another arrival in the lightweight, fast-moving daypack departure lounge, this time from German brand Deuter.

The new range of Speed Lite packs - in the shops now - is, as you might guess from the name, intended to slash weight to the minimum but without sacrificing comfort or capacity.

Four Sizes

The packs come in four sizes - 10, 20, 25 and 30-litre - and weigh in between 300 grammes for the baby of the family, and 850 grammes for the 30-litre version.

Fit is described as 'close' with a 3D breathable air mesh system supported by a lightweight, flexible Delrin frame, which you can also remove to shave more weight. Even the shoulder straps use 3D Airmesh to reduce weight and Deuter says that:

'The innovative V shape of these packs allows maximum freedom of movement and places the load exactly where it should be, between the shoulder blades.'

Compression Mission

The packs are aimed at fast movers like mountain bikers, runners, climbers and lightpackers so have a side compression strap system to cinch loads firmly in place which can be extended around the front of the pack for better hold. There are also external mesh pockets for ad hoc stuffing manoevres on the trail...

Prices are a very reasonable £30-£50 - more details from www.deuter.com.
