Never ones to miss an animated ovine trick, the nice people at the
Cumbrian tourist board's GoLakes web site have come up with yet
another episode in their sheepy musical assault on good taste
everywhere.
Presumably
intended to persuade people to flock to the Lakes, the latest
hilarious GoLakes prank is a 'real-life flock of singing sheep from
the Lake District' belting out a toe-curlingly awful version of Land
of Hope and Glory.
There's even a screamingly unfunny video featuring 'a Pierluigi
Collina' lookalike - and we quote - 'struggling to control a game
between herds of sheep as a football is pursued over mountains and
streets.'
Previous sheepish bandwagon jumping from GoLakes has included
Barmy Sheep versions of Jerusalem and Jingle Bells as well as a
particularly gruesome downloadable ring tone.
So what conclusions can be drawn from the latest sheep atrocity?
Er, Cumbria is full of sheep and the cheery locals will laugh at pretty much
anything. Hmmmm... It all kind of makes you want to head off to
Germany and watch the World Cup - is that the idea maybe? Coming soon, Deliverance, sheep style. Don't joke about it.
