Just a quick piece of gear news to let you know that Macpac has released a new range of 'Torlesse' packs. The thinking behind them goes as follows: some of us only get out into the hills from time to time and so we don't want to cough up a fortune for our gear. Even so, we need it to withstand the elements. Or as Macpac's David Ross puts it: "outdoor enthusiasts ... might only have a handful of weekends each summer to do the things they enjoy, but performance and weatherproofness are still critical. The environment hasn't changed."
As Jon has one of the new packs on test at the moment, you'll be able to find out how they shape up in action shortly.
