BMC Announces Winter Essentials Lectures

The BMC has announced the dates for their 2006 Winter Essentials Series of six lectures presented by IFMGA Mountain Guides Martin Moran and Mike 'Twid' Turner.

The lectures are intended to be both educational and inspirational and there's no denying that Moran and Turner know their stuff both being qualified guides with years of experience behind them.

Martin Moran is probably best known for his Munroes in winter project while Twid was, until recently, Head of Rock Climbing at Plas y Brenin and has some incredibly hard ascents to his credit worldwide.

You Need Skills

The main focus of the series is to make you aware of the skills you need to operate safely in a winter environment and is relevant to both winter walkers and climbers. The pair will talk about equipment and clothing, navigation, footwork, planning, avalanche awareness, belays and much more and you can expect some humour to spice it all up.

Monday 6 November - Liverpool
Liverpool University

Tuesday 7 November - Oxford
Oxford University

Wednesday 8 November - London
University College London

Thursday 9 November - Stoke-on-Trent

Monday 13 November - Kendal
