Hot news from the guys at Alpkit who have made their range
of Airic self-inflating sleeping mats lighter and
more compact than before.
They haven't just made them smaller though, the boys are now using
what they call 'Xlite Die Cut Open Cell Foam', which contains
interconnected air pockets cut into the foam layer which, they say,
makes for excellent insulation and cushioning. It's also 30 per cent
lighter than regular foam and packs down 'nice and small'.
The Airic range has been growing as well and there are now four
models, each available in two colours - kelp and chilli - with prices
including first class delivery within the UK.
Wee Airic is the lightweight, 460 gramme runt of the litter
and costs £17.50. It's longer than most similar mats as well
as being lighter.
The regular Airic is a £27.50 allrounder and is
actually wider than the luxurious Fat Airic. Slim Airic at
£25.00 has now been trimmed down to 688 grammes. Finally,
big bruiser Fat Airic is a super luxurious car camping mat
that's now the OM mattress of choice anywhere we don't have to carry
kit with us...
Good kit at very reasonable prices. More information on the new
lighter and more compact Airics at www.alpkit.com.
Last but not least, congratulations to Alpkit's former work
experience climbing kiddy Beth Monks who managed an impressive sixth
place at the European Youth Championships in Bulgaria earlier this
month and followed it up with first place at the Capital Climbing
Festival with a clean sweep in all three rounds.
