We've already told you a bit about the launch of the Berghaus
Big Wall range of clothing and equipment aimed at people who,
well, climb big walls, but we thought you'd like a heads up on some
gripping online video of Leo Houlding slacklining in Yosemite
from the web site.
Slacklining, if you don't know already, is pretty much climbers
tightrope walking, but on a slack rope. It emerged as a balance
exercise / entertainment in Yosemite's climbing campgrounds and went
from there.
Of course Leo, being Leo, is slacklining over a massive drop
between the rim of the Yosemite valley and Lost Arrow Spire, which is
simply bonkers. The gripping bit isn't so much the actual commercial,
which you can watch on the site, but the extended 'making of' which
underlines just how difficult it was to film and how many times a
cursing Leo had to walk the line and fall off before bagging the
final take.
"F***! ****! **** - I can't do it..."
Oh, suppose we should telll you that there is swearing
involved...
Elsewhere on the site, you can find full details of the whole
Berghaus Big Wall range which will enable you to slackline just like
Leo, but without swearing, and there's a competition to win a trip to
Yosemite for two people.
Anyhow, the bonkers Houlding vid is in the downloads section of
the site at www.berghaus.co.uk/bigwall.
Enjoy :-)
