Christmas Cracker - Number Two

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

What do you buy for the outdoor person who has everything? Between now and Christmas, we'll be running a daily Christmas Cracker featuring an inspired Christmas gift idea to help you cope with that tricky purchasing situation.

Number Two: Petzl e+LITE

Just in case you've missed it and just in case you can still find one, we reckon this is the ideal stocking filler for any keen walker or climber. The e+LITE is Petzl's small but perfectly formed 27-gramme headtorch.

It's tiny, light and ingenious. Just because it's small doesn't mean it's minimalist, so not only do you get two white LED settings and flasher, there's also a red LED to avoid trashing your night vision plus super neat features like a swivelling ball joint and a clip allowing you to mount it not just on your head but also on, say, the stiffened peak of a cap or hood or on a laminated lapel.

Petzl says its for emergency use, but with its 19-metre range, 45-hour burn time, cheap watch-type batteries and carefully thought-through features, we've found it a totally useable all-round torch. The only problem is that it's so small, it's easy to forget where you've stashed it...

More details at www.petzl.com price is £25.
