The Snowdonia National Park Authority is in the process of
choosing a name for the cafe which forms part of the new visitor
centre being built on the summit of Snowdon and due to open in spring
of 2008.
The
new name is due to be announced this Wednesday and the authority has
asked members of the public to suggest names.
According to the BBC,
Snowdonia National Park's Llinos Angharad says the authority is
looking for "something short, something quite catchy, something that
would be easily remembered by everyone and also something that
everybody can say."
You can find out more about the £9 million development from
previous OM articles linked at the bottom of this page and from the
Snowdon
Summit section of the Snowdonia National Park web site.
Meanwhile OUTDOORSmagic members have been having their own debate
about the new building on the forum, with at least one poster
favouring no summit building at all and creating a Photoshopped view
of a naked
summit to back up his case :-) See forum thread link
below.
You can see a list of suggestions
on the BBC Wales web site ranging from the downright awful -
'Grillers in the Mist' anyone - to the mildly less awful 'Summit To
Eat'.
We'll do our best to let you know the real one just as soon as
it's chosen... If you want to mail a suggestion of your own, try
mailing operations@snowdonia-society.org.uk
but you'd best be quick.
