Yates At Keswick Mountain Festival

It's still a way off, but forward planners might like to make a note in their diary that Simon Yates is going to be appearing at the Keswick Mountain Festival on 17 May.

Simon's perhaps best know as 'the other climber' in Touching The Void and he will be introducing a special screening of the film at the Alhambra Cinema on Thursday the 17th of May at 8pm as well as his lecture 'Beyond The Void' at the Theatre By The Lake on the same day.

While the general public know little of Yates beyond his role in Joe Simpson's Andean epic, he's moved on to become a highly respected climber with hard routes in many of the world's more remote ranges to his credit.

He's also written two excellent books, 'Against the Wall' and 'Flame of Adventure' based on his climbing and non-climbing adventures.

The Lecture will be held on Thursday the 17th May at the Theatre by the Lake in the Main House, at 3.30pm. In order to book in advance you can contact the theatre on 01768 74411.

To book cinema tickets, drop in on www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk and use the link on the sponsors and partners page. You'll find full information on this new festival on the site.
