Fort William Mountain Festival Under Way

Fort William Mountain Festival 2007

Just a quick reminder that the Fort William Mountain Festival 2007 is now under way, with the best of Banff Film Festival and lots more - see full programme.

New to the event this year is the Mountain Culture Summit - "is the notion of a distinct 'mountain culture' fully established yet or does it need to be fostered?" Share your views with the likes of TGO's Cameron McNeish and Glenmore Lodge's Tim Walker at the Nevis Centre on Friday 2nd March.

There should be plenty of oppportunities to pick up some new skills as well, with scheduled workshops on ice climbing, winter walking and avalanche awareness, and a few more arty options including 'wilderness writing' and photography. The festival's a two week affair, with workshops spread throughout that period, so you've got until 3rd March to fit them in.

Tickets are available from the Nevis Centre - 01397 700707 - or via the online programme. You can also buy tickets with a ten per cent discount if you're staying at any of the festival affiliated accommodation.

Events later this week include a talk by Niall Grimes tonight, an evening of Banff films on Tuesday, and a themed Mountain Bike evening on friday night. All sounds good to us.

If you're heading up to Fort William at any point during the festival, enjoy:-)
