The Weekly Gallery Round-Up

Bridgedale logo

To photoshop or not to photoshop? - that is the question. At least, Hamlet might have thought so if he'd survived into the age of the digital camera. In his absence, numerous voices on the OM forum have taken on the question of whether the use of photoshop and other packages is cheating or just a part of the creative process. If you have a view, share it here.

In the meantime, here are the best of the week's photos, whether photoshopped, filtered, magnified, or left completely natural. We reckon they look pretty good anyway...

Pleased to meet you...

We don't see many mammals in the OM gallery, apart from the Gore-Tex clad variety, but when we do they're worth waiting for. George Monaghan's new friends up near Glen Coe make for a fantastic photo. More in his Ben Lomond album.

Fun with Filters

Foam Bob's given us an insight into how he took this photo, telling us: "39 different filters were used here. As you can see, the last bit of sun gave a nice magenta glow to the fellside. The violet sky is something to do with the weather." Visit numptyville for more photos, including some rather tasty Spanish tomatoes and a fair bit of mountain biking.

Globetrotting

Lee Hiom always sends us pictures that make you want to book your next holiday right away and this week has seen a particularly rich haul. First we have some rather spectacular lighting (without any hideous disco music involved) followed by a stunning panorama from Mount Toubkal.

More in travel pics in case you feel an attack of wanderlust coming on.

Above the Clouds

The cloud inversions are still coming thick and fast - see the latest arrivals in MarkGriff's Welsh Mountains album. "Is Capel Curig down there somewhere?" Hmmm, good question.

Finally, Cruxster Man remains the king of wild camping photos in the gallery. Whether you like your tents in orange, yellow, green or red, pitched beside tarns, or materialising from the middle of nowhere, this is the album for you.

That's it for this week but keep the pictures coming. We wouldn't get through the day without a bit of escapism, after all.

If you want some inspiration for places to go walking, try the routes section where a new walking or scrambling route appears by magic each week, or by courtesy of the OM routes editor, Dave Mycroft. Also, if you want to know about the latest gear to wear on the hill, try our latest gear reviews.
