We told you about Sprayway's
wearable electronics including an iPod jacket just a few
weeks ago, but they're not the only UK brand set to be offering a
musical waterproof this summer, Craghoppers also has an
iPod jacket in the pipeline.
The new £250 Future jacket is a fully waterproof shell
jacket which is fully integrated for iPod use. The jacket has a
dedicated inside pocket for docking of the iPod and built-in
headphone buds. The controls are located on the sleeve using ElekTex
smart fabric controls from a UK-based company called Eleksen.

"Craghoppers has always been known for pushing the boundaries of
technical design, not just for the sake of it but because we know
what our customers are looking for,' says Craghoppers MD Jim
McNamara.
"We believe that our Future jacket is the only one of its kind in
the UK and it is already attracting a lot of interest. It allows the
consumer to travel warmly and have access to their own music, with
the added security of being able to conceal their iPod."

As you'd expect though, the Future is also a fully specced walking
/ travel waterproof and features fused seams, a full-face roll-away
hood and storm flaps. It should also be easy to look after with the
flexible, durable nature of ElekTex making it fully washable.
Interesting stuff if you feel the need for tunes while you walk.
More details when we have them. The Sprayway version, incidentally,
is due to retail for £180, some £70 less and has a slightly
different control system.
