We have competition overload on OM at the moment, with a big stash of kit to be won - see our competition page - and we've also got a few recent prize winners to announce. The Vango competition closed last week, and as the prize was three Ultralite 200 tents, worth £150.00 each, it aroused a fair bit of interest.
For everyone who fancied a spot of super lightweight camping this summer, the wait is now over. The entrants' names have all gone in the fleece-lined hat, they've been swirled around by a winter blizzard or two, and three of them popped out again to see if it had stopped snowing. Well, it hasn't, but by the time the Ultralite 200s have arrived on the winners' doorsteps, summer might well have returned. At that point, the following people will be able to head out to the hills with minimal weight on their backs:
- Jackie O'Neill from Middlesex
- David Green from Cambridgeshire
- Kevin Symonds also from Cambridgeshire
Champagne all round, we reckon - ultralight champagne, that is.
One OUTDOORSmagic winner is also set for an armchair adrenalin fix this coming weekend, at the Sheffield Adventure Film Forum. Grant Shipley won the prize of £45 of tickets for films of his choice. Surfing, ice berg climbing, one legged Alpine descents, kayak rolling, hand jamming, round the world sailing - the options are endless. And if you didn't win the prize, it's not too late to head along to the fest to check out Europe's largest bouldering wall, hear talks from the likes of Alastair Lee and Andy Kirkpatrick, rat race around the city, and of course party Saturday night away. More at the Sheffield Adventure Film Forum website.
Finally, if you went along to the Outdoors Show at the weekend, you might have seen the following people wandering around clutching free tickets:
- Laurie Dowell
- Dennis Downey
- Margot Bowker
- Kim Bakewell
- Simon Pullin
- John Buckle
- Mark Weaver
- Stephen Postle
- Janet Davies
- Jonathan Eggett
We hope you enjoyed the show, but if you missed it, have a peep at the Outdoors Show in Pictures, get out your sunglasses in the face of the brightest bivvy bag you've ever seen, and check out the torch you won't need for spotting it - possibly the brightest head torch out there.
And if you could do with a bit of gear for free, we still have four pairs of Teva's new Sunkosi sandals (or should that be trail shoes?) up for grabs, not to mention three Petzl Tikka XP head torches, a Lowrance Ifinder Go GPS, and a Terra Nova Quasar ETC tent worth £500. Not a bad haul.
Good luck!
