Drink Beer, Support Mountain Rescue :-)

You'll soon be able to drink a pint and support Mountain Rescue at the same time thanks to the Abbeydale Brewery, which is going to be producing a special beer in aid of the Edale Mountain Rescue Team.

The new brew will be called Salvation - geddit - and will help raise funds for the team as well as raising its profile. The beer will go on sale at pubs affiliated to the Sheffield-based brewers throughout the Peak and Sheffield.

Unfortunately you'll have to wait a month or two. Salvation is due to be launched at a Beer Festival held at the Rising Sun pub in Nether Green on Wednesday 11 July and, given the nature of the brew, climbing writer and epic survivor Joe Simpson has agreed to open the festival.

We'll almost certainly remind you nearer the date, but if you needed an excuse to grab a summertime beer after a day on the hill in the Peak, here it it :-)

More about the Abbeydale Brewery at www.abbeydalebrewery.co.uk plus information on the Edale MRT at www.edalemountainrescue.co.uk.

Cheers Jon for publishing this article, several of the team will also be there for the launch.

I of course need no excuse to drink beer and will hope to see some of you like minded reprobates there.
