The Friday Matinee

Blimey, is it Friday already? That can mean only one thing - the Friday Matinee our kind online video offering to anyone killing those dead Friday afternoon hours before you can escape for the weekend.

For a change we thought we'd do something a bit different and have a look for fell running clips - you might think using a head cam when running is a recipe for jerky action, and you'd be right, but honestly, it's not unentertaining in its own way....

First off check out this short film about the Edale Skyline 2007 event in the Peak. You can tell its cold because the participants have forgone their usual obscene slash-cut short shorts in favour of full and three-quarter length lycra tights :-)

Hmmmm... looks lovely.

Edale not quite high enough for you? How about running down Mount Kenya? Okay, Kenya's a little pixellated, but it's a nice, grinny film and no bag pipes ...

Last but not least, with around 200 people already having summited Everest this season and more to come, here's a pretty decent film of folk summiting the mountain from Frontpoint Productions. Clock the summit views at the end. Bloody awesome.

And that's your lot for this week, have a good weekend :-)

hi, having watched a few of the recent everest vids, i think it's "cheating" having fixed rope all the way to the summit. if people want to climb that's what they should do! at some point the fixed rope should stop, looking at the pics of the summit it's a mess, ropes, flags, photos etc. they are spoiling the top of the world!! it should be left as close to nature as possible. as for lower down it's the worlds highist rubbish dump. why do people think it's OK to dump things, if you took it with you, you should keep it with you! i'm not a "green", but no matter where you go in supposed "wilderness" areas these days you'll find rubbish of some kind, from "explorers", "tourists" etc. i just think ...
