A tough outdoor watch that's readable in any light conditions is
the promise of the new collection of watches from Nite
International.
Nite Watches use a technology called GTLS (Gaseous Tritium Light
Source), which it says until recently was used only in specialist
military and safety applications where a guaranteed light source was
needed.
Each watch contains a minimum of 15 of the little GTLS lamps which
are permanently working, so as soon as the light drops, the lamp
becomes visible. It's all powered by a chemical reaction and the
light should last for between ten and 20 years.
The watches have been upgraded recently and have Swiss-made Ronda
movements, better straps, screw-in strap pins and an anti-reflective
coating to the scratch-resistant sapphire glass.

The company says that the new TX10 model is ideal for outdoor
users as it has an 'all-in-one' case and strap design made from
an extremely durable and comfortable polymer plus a smooth design
which means it shouldn't catch on pack straps and clothing and is
water-resistant down to 100 metres. It's even available in an
outdoor-friendly shade of cammo green.
Looks interesting if you're after a simple, tough, outdoors watch,
though at £175 it's a bit of an investment.
