Rab has announced the first ever RAB Mountain Marathon to
be held in the SW Lakes on 29-30 September and catering both
for competitive runners and walkers as well.
The two-day event is open to solos and teams of two, three or four
competitors with category winners landing prizes from the Rab range
of outdoor clothing and equipment.
Rab says the event is intended as a 'true navigators event'
with all courses to be set up on a "score" event format. There's an
Elite class for hardnuts, but also standard categories and a walkers'
class, all of which will run over the same beautiful and challenging
terrain as the Elite Course. The aim is to visit as many checkpoints
as possible within a time cut-off for each class, scoring points for
each one.
As well as testing your fitness, mountain skills and navigational
prowess, you'll need to put some thought into your kit as there's an
overnight camp on Saturday and you'll be toting both camping equipment
and food across the fells.
The exact details will be revealed one month before the event, but
there's going to be an event centre complete with camping, changing,
showers and toilet facilities, plus Planet Fear will be selling at
the event giving you the chance to buy any last minute race
necessities and a wide range of Rab gear.
You can find full details plus entry form at the site of
organisers Dark and White - www.darkandwhite.co.uk.
