BMC Winter Lectures Announced

Winter EssentialsThe British Mountaineering Council has finalised the line-up for this year's series of 'winter essentials' talks, so look out for one coming to a venue near you this November.

The talks touch on all aspects of winter hill walking and mountaineering, from learning how to navigate in winter conditions to finding out just how unstable that creaky snow slope really is; and from route planning to deciding which pairs of winter mitts you'll need to keep your paws warm.

If that sounds a bit technical, past experience of the lectures suggests that the speakers will draw heavily on personal experience, regaling anecdotes - and showing heaps of alluring snowy pics - to persuade you that winter walking/climbing really is the way to go, rather than just explaining how it's done. Inspiration first, then experience, or something like that ...

And if you still need convincing, where better could you be on a dark November evening when it's too dark to climb and probably drizzling anyway?:-)

Tickets cost £5 for BMC members and £7 for non-members, or you can get a special discounted price of £3.50 each if you buy ten or more tickets in advance. Just fill in the booking form and fax or email it to office@thebmc.co.uk, fax number 0161 445 4500.
