If it's Friday then it must be time for the Friday Matinee, the ultimate way of frittering away the final hours before a weekend in the hills.
Now there's a nip in the air we decided we'd look forward to winter (a bit optimistic, we know) and take a peep at some ice, just to remind ourselves what the white shiny stuff looks like.
So, first up, here's "La Muse: Escalada en Hielo", which shows how ice climbing's done, and also how to knock the stuff down if it looks a bit loose.
And here's how not to do it ... Whether pure ice climbing, dry tooling or mixed climbing is the order of the day, it's now possible to pack umpteen falls into a mere two minutes and 15 seconds - all of them well-protected, we hasten to add. Just keep hold of that ice axe!
From ice climbing we made the transition to mountaineering and headed off to some European summits in search of something a bit less vertical. We got a bit stuck on European summits at sunrise though, so if you want to know what a high-speed dawn looks like on the Matterhorn, here you go. And they say that mountains change colour ...
While we're at it, here's another one ...
And if we're doing Alpine sunrises, we'd better give Mont Blanc a look-in as well...
That's it for this week, if all the chilled-out lyrical piano musical hasn't sent you off to sleep already. We'll give sunrises a rest next week, but in the meantime, we hope they stay bright and unclouded over the weekend.
