Jetboil Announces Frying Pan

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

Another look into the near future, this time for users of the excellent Jetboil stove who will finally be able to fry up their bacon and eggs from next January thanks to a dedicated Jetboil frying pan.

That might not sound like much, but up til now, Jetboil users have mostly been confined to boiling things, albeit in a very efficient way. The new pan uses Jetboil's FluxRing technology for efficient bacon-crisping. The FluxRing concentrates heat giving efficiencies of over 80 per-cent compared to 30-40 per-cent for a standard stove leading to faster boiling and cooking.

The new frying pan is compatible with both the Jetboil GCS and PCS models, has curved sidewalls for easy flipping - pancakes anyone - and stirring and the plastic bottom cover also doubles as as a preparation / eating plate. The handles fold flat for easy storage.

Weight is a claimed 280 grammes and it measures 205mm x 57mm, or 8.1 x 2.2 inches in old money.

Once the pan is available in January 2008, it should retail for around £35, though it will also need a Pot Support and Stabilizer, sold separately. Anyone for a New Year bacon buttie?

More Jetboil information at www.jetboil.com though not all configurations listed there are available in the UK.

It was on sale in Needle Sport in Keswick in November it was about 35 quid I think.

Didn't buy one as I bought a couple of Long Way Down Buffs instead (all many goes to UNICEF so go and buy one!).
