March In Pics

By Susan

It's time for the not-so-weekly gallery round-up and first up, look what the Easter Bunny brought to Scotland - and to much of the UK for that matter. Anyone who missed the treat can find some more virtual white stuff in Dave's Scotland album, although we should warn you that the contents are rather inscrutable. And you'll have to have a peep to find out what we mean by that ...

Heading down to the other end of the country, here's a world of black and white in the kind of quality that Guinness manufacturers can only dream about. Lone trees, rock sculptures, and brewing storms - the Collection album has them all. "Beautifully stirring atmosheric stuff! " says Trevor Gamble, and who are we to disagree?

Back up north, these four-legged fellas tend to make popular viewing in the OM gallery. The only thing we can't quite make out is why they would be Dodging DIY. We're trying to imagine the conversation. Buck: shall we spruce up that very nice IKEA tree stump we bought last weekend? Doe: Actually, I'd rather go for a roam through the trees and maybe visit that funny landscape photographer who keeps wandering up here with muddy boots on.

Ahem, anyway ... "Torn down by the storm, this tree is at a place called Walls, Shetlands Westside," says Gary of this pic. If you want evidence of the kind of winds that did the damage, have a look at the crashing waves in his Around Shetland album. And while you're there, don't forget to drool over some seriously tempting rock ...

What would an OM gallery round-up be worth without a quick trip to the Himalayas? In fact, what would the OM gallery be like without this particular toilet? If only there were an OM award for the most scenic toilet we're pretty sure this one would win. And there are plenty more stunning mountain panoramas where this one came from. Just try the album I'm just a rambling man.

Back in Britain, here's one of several stunning Lakeland pics from Tyke to whet your appetite for the Lake District album. It contains rather classy shots of all the usual mountains - and a less than usual shot of a Canada goose. We couldn't have taken it better ourselves:-)

And finally, "great days out on the hill make you feel great!" declares Paul Burke. No, those aren't the words of a government 'get fit' campaign, they're a leap for joy, captured perfectly by this action photo. When was the last time you felt like that on top of a mountain?

If it's been a while, take a peep at Burke's day out for a spot of inspiration. And just to give you an idea what this hiker does with a day out, he begins by watching dawn over Windermere, then heads off for some rugged and blizzard-filled mountaineering, before heading back to the good old Lakes for a tranquil sunset. What more could you ask from a day in the hills?

That's all for now. Keep jumping for joy up those mountains - not to mention regular virtual jumps for joy as you open up the OM gallery - and keep sending us those pics. Summer's on its way...
