April? Surely not. First we have bluebells and daffodils in February and then the weather follows up its pack of tricks with snow in April. And that's not just in Scotland and the Lakes - it's in the equatorial world south of the Watford Gap as well. So, if you aren't feeling nice and cosy right now you should probably fetch a cup of tea before you scroll down the page. This week's pics are as stunning as ever, but they certainly aren't warming.
That covers the disclaimer; now for the photos. First up is Paul Sammonds' desolate shot of Ben More and Stob Binnien, which is both watery and wintry - much like the rest of his Way Out West album. If you're in snowy mode at the moment, at least half the pics should be down your street. Even better, they're all thoroughly mountainous - so if you're in coastal walking mode, look away now.

Moving further up in elevation, here's the mandatory Himalayan image for the week, and it's a less well-known one this time. We may all take in the Annapurna Circuit's most scenic toilet when we visit Nepal, but not many of us make it this far off the beaten track. 'May Contain Nuts' tells us: "it's as about as far as you can get independent trekking in nepal - certainly feels a million miles from home". For more Himalayan action, visit the I'm just a rambling man album.

Fossil Bluff has been one of the major contributors to the OM gallery in the last few weeks, with an orgy of Dartmoor landscapes. If black and white photography's your thing then you certainly won't be wasting your time on his Collection album. The same goes for anyone who can appreciate rock stacks looming up from a heathy wilderness, or just those brooding winter skies.

Some weeks, the challenge is to get above the snowline but this time around we're finding ice-free pics are in shorter supply. Brian Wyld has supplied the goods - but only just. Here's a spot of green and pleasant land for anyone who doesn't like getting their toes cold. Mind you, if you dip into the Briwy pics album, guess what you'll find inside? Yes, that's right, it's another snowy one.

And finally, what's the point of a good old snow drift if you can't dive in and act like you're at primary school again? Here's the Ayrshire Tiger demonstrating that he at least doesn't miss out on the opportunity for a bit of fun. For more pictures of people not-quite-upright in the snow, try the Glen Cova album.

That's it for this week, except to point out our disappointment with the lack of snowmen in the gallery. Better luck next week perhaps - in some places. In others, spring might just be on the way, and if we keep saying that, we're bound to be right sometime, aren't we?:-)
