Time for a quick update on the status of Suspension Bridge Buttress - a favourite haunt of West Country climbers - after we reported it out of bounds earlier this week.
Well, we didn't mean to deceive you, but it turns out that the buttress is open for business as usual - whether of the jamming, lay-backing, or helpless flailing variety - and in fact it always has been. Could this be the most rapidly solved access problem in the history of climbing? Quite possibly.
We aren't sure exactly how the confusion came about but the good guys at the BMC thought that beings of a chalked-up nature, aka climbers, were banned from the crag from now on, by Bristol City Council.
Either that was a misunderstanding, or else the pressure of 800 names on a petition and a bombardment of irate emails was enough to make the council cave in. Either way, it's a good result for climbers.
So, thanks to everyone who's shaken their virtual finger at Bristol City Council over the last few days - and apologies to the Council if it wasn't strictly necessary. Let's just hope every access crisis resolves itself so speedily in future.
Happy climbing on Suspension Bridge Buttress, everyone:-)
