GPS brand
Garmin
is promoting the growing pursuit of geocaching with its new
Garmin Geocoin Challenge
running up till the end of September, 2008.

Geocaching
involves the use of a GPS navigational device to locate a hidden cache,
which could be anything from a simple log book sealed into a 35mm
canister through to 'large boxes filled with geocoins, travel bugs and
cuddly toys'.
According to Garmin, there are now over 600 caches to choose from
worldwide. You can find one near you by visiting
garminuk.geocaching.com
and entering your post code.
Additionally, Garmin has issued a limited number of five unique
geocoins
which can be - or at least could be - found at participating stores.
Each coin has a unique number and the idea is that you take
the coin and deposit it at a geocache, logging it on the website, and
leaving it for someone else to find.
“The Geocoins will act as travellers, moving from cache to
cache aided by people who find them, being logged every time they are
discovered." Says Garmin's Andrew Silver. The geocoin may even have a
goal, like trying to move to the west coast of the UK.
Last but not least, taking part gives you the chance to win
prizes including;
£500 Superbreak holiday vouchers courtesy of Visit Britain
and the latest Garmin hand-held personal navigation devices.
