It's official: the best view in Britain is in North Wales. Lovers of Snowdonia have known it for a long time but it's now been confirmed by users of the National Trust's website who gave Aberglaslyn Pass top marks for its scenery above nine other beauty spots around the country.
Aberglaslyn Pass crosses the slopes of Snowdon so next time you're up there, make sure you savour the view - assuming the mist hasn't got there first:-)
Aberglaslyn Pass just pipped Borrowdale to the post, with St. Michael's Mount coming third. Other spots that made the top ten include Brimham rocks (of Yorkshire climbing fame), Hardcastle crags (also Yorkshire) and, wait for it, the mountaineering paradise of Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk! There wasn't much north of the border though.
And if you live down in the big city, far from any of those places, and you happened to be passing Paddington station last Thursday, you could see Aberglaslyn Pass on a high-definition screen that was specially installed for the occasion.
Now all the station needs is a train service that can get you to Snowdonia without winning the lottery first and Bob's your uncle.
Ahem, anyway, if you have your own views on which of the many stunning wilderness areas in the UK should have won the vote then have your say in the forum.
