We don't have full details yet, but running footwear specialist
New Balance is
launching a range of
outdoors
shoes for spring 2009.
It's an interesting development with a mix of high tech running shoe
features and refinement with proven outdoor features like Gore-Tex
liners and Vibram sole units. The shoe in the picture, which we have on
test right now, is the
New
Balance 1520 which New Balance describes as: 'A sleek and
durable multi-sport shoe that incorporates athletic tech features with
Outdoor styling.'
The 520 features a Vibram sole, Gore-Tex XCR lining, ABZORB foam
cushioning, Stability Web arch support which prevents mid-foot flex and
NLock, the integrated webbing and lacing system designed to give a snug
fit over the forefoot and improve stability. Overall the shoe feels
quite sturdy rather than running shoe light and we're looking forward
to trying it out on the hills.
Interesting stuff. We're off on a proper New Balance press launch soon
and we'll report back with more details then.
