If it's Friday and it comprehensively is, then it must be time for this
week's Friday Matinee,
our regular selection of outdoors
streaming video to while away the hours before the weekend
begins.
This week we thought we'd feature something beautiful in the form of
the mountain that was voted the most beautiful in the world, Alpamayo
in the Peruvian Andes, a stunning shark's fin of snow and ice in the
Cordillera Blanca.
You can't see the full face from the valley camp, so it's only climbers
and, erm, YouTube viewers who get the full impact. You'll probably
recognise the mountain, even if you don't know its name...
To kick things off, here's a cracking sequence of an ascent of the
mountain all the way from the valley base camp through to some stunning
view from the top.
More stunning footage of the mountain with scary music thrown in,
though actually the still photography is arguably more worth watching.
Lovely.
Last but not least, the area also has some stunning trekking...
Blimety, that brought back some memories. We're off to buy an air
ticket to Lima. Have a good one.
