Gallery Round-Up - January 2009

Check out our pick of the OM Gallery this month for some cracking images :-)

It's been a great January in the hills with lashings of snow and some cracking, crisp, sub-zero days on the tops. And as you'd expect, that's been reflected in the OUTDOORSmagic Gallery with snowy mountainscapes popping up all over.

Don't forget, all OM members, have three free megabytes of gallery space to share their pics with the world, so if you've got some lovely shots burning a  hole in your hard disc, then get on over and upload them today :-) For now though, here are some of our favourite images from January 2009.

Snowy Lakes

We're not sure exactly where in the Lakes this is - anyone? - but Matt C's Snowy Lake District Jan 09 ticks a fair few of our boxes.

Unpopular Moles...

Richard Roworth's 'Wild Images' album has some lovely shots in it, like this one of a snowy Catsye Cam in the Lakes:

The one that really caught our eye though, was this recent upload. Clearly someone out there is not at all keen on moles. If you're a mole reading this, look away now...

Quick Way Down...

That Blonde Woman has been on the loose on Ben Lomond and clearly having fun...

Clouds Aloud...

I'm just a rambling man
says May Contain Nuts in a Lemon Jelly sort of a way. We're rather liking the whispery cloud formation. Not sure where it is though.

Paint It White

Something a bit different from Allan McD aka 'Bogmon' in his Paintings album. There are some crackers in there, but this one is probabably our favourite, Suilven East Ridge.

And not paintings...

It's not just paintings from Bogmon though, his Allan Mac's images has some lovely landscape shots including this mad-hued image of the Vale of Rheidol.

Pave Ark Inversion

Remember all those Christmas and New Year inversion shots, the ones where the cloud sits in the valleys like a sea of smoke, while the tops poke out into the sunshine? Well, here's another one. This is Graham Jolly's dramatic view of Pavey Arks above Langdale in the Lakes.

CMD Arete...

Wow! Some stunning shots of what is, in our humble opinion, far and away the best walking route up Ben Nevis, the CMD Arete from Mark Pinder's Scotland 09 album. This is lovely... and judging by the voting, you agree with us on that.

Coire Craziness

This PTC shot's been sitting on the front page and is just a bit different. Just goes to show what you can do 'messing with camera settings'. Interesting.

Colours...

John Henderson's shot of winter sun from his Kentmere Round collection is just one of a collection of characteristically nice images... Colour me mad.

Cairngorms or Everest?

There are a lot more landscapes that people in the gallery, but we like this shot of walkers in the Cairngorms. Somehow it looks more like the Lhotse Face of Everest than a Scottish mountain and, in a funny way, that tells you everything you need to know about mountaineering. Photographer, Jon Peterson.

And that's it for now - there's loads more where those came from, with more being added all the time and all OM members have three free megabytes of space to share their outdoor images. So get over to the OM Gallery and grab some free inspiration...

Just to help Jon out a bit.....

My Snowy Lakes shot was above Glenridding, on Raise looking out towards the High Street range, on Saturday just gone.

And May Contain Nuts' shot, 'Clouds' is taken from Quinag looking towards Ben Mor Assynt (he said so on the 'Where Am I' thread).
