January's Winner
It's that socky time of the month again when we announce more photography competition winners - Buchaille Etive Mor in this case.
We would rave for a while about the snow-capped summit, the foreground interest of the river, the sombre sky etc., but to preserve you from any more awful jokes it's best if we let the photo speak for itself. So, here it is ...

The Runner-Up
It attracted a mighty 51 votes - pretty high up the all time OM rankings - and just to add the icing to the cake, Foam Bob's second top photo, Loch Torran bagged another 29 votes. Good work.
In second place was Neil Higgins' photo of a classic New Year cloud inversion, which just about saw off a late challenge from Guy's 25 Jan 2007. Guy's photo is still hauling in the votes now though and we like it so much we've put it on the home page. Cheers to all three of you.

And the best from the last week...
Now for some of this month's photos, starting with 'Iced Cream St. Sunday' by Marcus Crompton. If you like his work - or his witty captions - the massive Latest Pictures album awaits, including a top morning, an idea of what it's like up Grizedale, and plenty of general old gitdom (he said it not us). Well worth a peep.

Brett Trafford's another OM regular and he took this snap from the top of Steel Fell just before a snow storm hit. He wants to know why all his best pictures involve him getting cold and wet, so if anyone has the answer, we're sure he'd love to hear from you:-)

Next up, a quick glimpse at the new North Lakes album, which is quite different from most Lakeland albums in that it focuses more on the water than the rugged uplands.

Hamish Fenton's been to Spain, where there's been a fair bit of OM drama recently. His album, the H, might appeal to anyone with a geological bent.

And finally, Paul Burke's shown his deep empathy with all commuters on the London underground by sending us his 'walk to work' photo. Cheers Paul. I always knew the OM office was in the wrong location ...
More in his wild country album.

Right, we're off to have a look at the latest 'please mind the gap' signs, but we hope some of you enjoy a more scenic ramble home. Thanks to everyone who's submitted photos to the gallery - we
always look forward to browsing through them. All OM members have 3MB
of space to
upload
their own pics, so keep them coming.
If you want some inspiration for places to go walking, try the
routes
section where a new walking or scrambling route appears by magic each
week, or by courtesy of the OM routes editor, Dave Mycroft. Also, if you want to
