OM's Susan Vittery takes off on a virtual journey round the world thanks to some of the latest, greatest images submitted to the OUTDOORSmagic members' gallery.
Mountains emerge in the OM
gallery somewhat faster than glaciation carved them out for
real. It's always worth browsing the newest images from far flung
parts of the world as well as hidden spots on the doorstep. If you're
tempted, the OM
Travel Section is the best place to look for holidays to
similar picture-postcard locations. But if you aren't due a break,
watching from your computer screen is the next best thing ...
The other week's virtual tour of New Zealand, Romania, Norway and
Skye was a tricky one to beat. Still, someone's always off on a trip
somewhere. So, on your PC this week, take a trip round Antarctica,
Tanzania, Peru, Romania and good old Glen Coe. If that's not the four
corners of the globe, what is?
Ed Harper's been busy jet-setting, landing photos of three
continents in the gallery all at once. You can follow him down to the
extreme south for a bit of
penguin
spotting and a few ice-scapes. Alternatively, here's his
classic photo of Machu Picchu.

And just to make sure the choice is as wide as possible, you can take
in the desert en route to the summit of Kilimanjaro. The rest of his
visual travelogue is in his album.

Marian Radu stayed slightly closer to home, but her album is
spectacular as ever. The Carpathians don't get a mention as often as
the Alps or the Dolomites but it looks like they definitely should
do. If the photo below looks tempting, try the rest of the
Fagaras
gallery for more of the same, or better.

For destinations you can reach without a plane ticket, there are
John Landale's shots of Scottish summits. Some of the
locations couldn't be more familiar, but the light leaves little to
be desired. Isn't Glen Coe supposed to be wreathed in cloud? Find
more sunsets in the
Outdoor
Scotland album.

South of the border there was a bit more fog but the views were none
the worse for that. You couldn't ask for a better shot of Great
Gable's surrounds on a sunny day. The same goes for Bow Fell, Esk
Pike, and a few others in
Marcus Crompton's latest
pictures album.

Finally, even though you've already seen this one in the newsletter
it's worth a second look ... and a third, fourth and fifth.
