Prehistoric rock art, "the strangest landscape I've ever seen", some antlered friends, and a stunning Pyrenean wild camp take over the gallery this week ...

Wild Camping Pyrenean Style

Anyone wondering whether to try wild camping could easily have their mind made up by this photo. It was taken from the Lacs d'Ayous in the French Pyrenees and there are definitely worse places for watching the sun rise.

Antlered Antics

If you think you need four season walking boots to reach the snow-line then think again - four paws will do just as nicely! This reindeer firmly denies using a Gore-Tex lined boot, a chairlift, or any other shortcut up a mountain, but he does admit to meeting the Ultimate Outdoors staff expedition to Sweden when he arrived. I want a job at Ultimate Outdoors is Jamie Basnett's response to that, and I'm sure he isn't the only one.

Sylarna summit is the peak in the background, and if you want to see more action from ooop north then try the Staff Expeditions - Sweden album - you might be there a while.

Mont Blanc Massif

Life on top of Western Europe looks pretty scenic as well, in Jon's album, where life is mostly European, but good old Glencoe pokes up its head as well.

Above the clouds

This cloud wave was snapped up from the summit of Stob Ban in August 2007. It's caused a bit of a dilemma though. To make the photo your desktop or not to make it your desktop, that is the question. Post your response to this burning issue if you like - oh, and by the way, do you like John Carpenter films?:-)

More in the Mamores 200708 album.

Himalaya

OM Routes Editor, Dave Mycroft, has been Out There taking a peep at Machhapuchhare - one of the most impressive summits you can see from the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary treks. He's managed to provide us with UK walking and scrambling routes at the same time though - how's that for multi-tasking?:-)

Prehistoric Rock

Hamish Fenton meanwhile has been getting up close and personal with the rock, and spying some prehistoric rock art along the way. Interesting stuff. The pic joins Hamish's the H album where silhouettes are still the main order of the day.

The Strangest Landscape?

Justin Murphy describes this photo of Las Medulas as "probably the strangest landscape I've seen" - it's certainly a far cry from anything we've seen in this green and soggy land. Pretty impressive though. We'd also like to join Justin in saying: I wish I was there now instead of sat at my blummin' desk. Don't we all!

That's all for now. Upload your photos here - we love looking through them - and if you want some inspiration for places to take your camera, try the routes section of the site. Also, the new, the wonderful, and the downright weird, from the world of outdoor gear, is always up for comment in our gear reviews.
