Pictures From The Coledale Round
Relaxed mountain scenery, beautiful views back to Skiddaw and south over the main Lakes? That'll be Coledale in the northern Lakes then...

If you've not headed up to the northern Lakes before, then put it
on your list. If scrambling's your thing then make for Blencathra
north of the A66 and Keswick and if lumpy rocky things get you going,
have a look at Skiddaw, but if you want a nice mountain amble with
great views, take a look at the Coledale Round.
Erm, that's it down below, or you can look at the map go
on. The walk starts from the car park on the Whinlatter Pass road
above the small village of Braithwaite - good campsite and pubs - if
the first car park, where the path starts is full, there's another
one about half a mile up the road.
We won't bore you with some witless account of how we bounced
around the summit smiling big grins and stuff, instead we'll just say
make sure you take the upper path - hint, there's a sign at the start
of it saying 'Grizedale Pike' and point out that once you've rolled
over Grizedale Pike, there are several options after Coledale Hause
depending largely on how lazy or otherwise you're feeling. Anyway,
enough blather, here's what it looks like.
