Cairn-mania, some seriously green lakes, and the odd benighting incident take pride of place in the gallery this week. Here's the latest from the world of outdoor snaps.

Grindelwald

Before we head over to the seriously green lakes, here's some seriously blue sky in case you'd forgotten what it looks like. Add that to the perfect reflections in this pic and we could just have another sock winner - the fate of the latest set of Bridgedale Trekkers will be decided this weekend after all. More on that here, and more of Jim Shotton's photography in the Grindelwald album.

Cairngorms

Sally's Travels are pretty wide-ranging by almost everyone's standards, taking in the Himalayas, South Island New Zealand, and a quick hop down to Corsica, to name but a few. This time she's stayed closer to home but who says the Cairngorms can't take on the Southern Alps?

Sharp Edge

Moving south, Sharp Edge is looking, well, sharp really and rather inviting into the bargain. We've never actually seen the view from Blencathra - not for lack of climbing it, we might add - but it looks like it might be time for another try. Mark Waker's obviously had better luck on his very first crossing of Sharp Edge. All right for some!

An Unplanned Bivvy

Dick Clements says that this photo was taken "on the Aretes du Gerbier in the Vercors, France. I may be smiling but note the colour of the sky. It is 19:30 by this point and the sun is sinking very fast..." Unsurprisingly, Dick's Photos also include a rather precarious, and unintended, bivvy spot.

North Island, New Zealand

Most of our photos of the Shakey Isles come from south of the Cook Strait but there's some pretty impressive trekking on the North Island as well. Gerard Smith snapped this very green lake on the Tongariro Crossing, often billed by the Kiwis as 'the best one day trek in the world'. You make up your mind on that one! Alternatively, head to Gerard's album for real ice, real snow and a genuine dose of gelomania.

Arran

"There are 100s of these sculptures now!" according to Marcus Crompton, who's spent a fair amount of time getting snap-happy on the Islands recently if his Latest Pictures album is anything to go by. It's well worth a look for an abundance of northern panoramas, not to mention a spot of White Magic - and no, that's not a sister site to OUTDOORSmagic. Well, not yet anyway:-).

West Highland Way

Baz Carter was the latest OMer to follow the 95 mile West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William. Follow his footsteps in the WHW album where you can't ask for a much better view of Loch Lomond.

That's all for now. Upload your photos here - we love looking through them - and if you want some inspiration for places to take your camera, try the routes section of the site. Also, the new, the wonderful, and the downright weird, from the world of outdoor gear, is always up for comment in our gear reviews.
