The Weekly Gallery Round-Up

This week's gallery round-up includes a scattering of ice, for anyone suffering withdrawal symptoms, and plenty of sunny hillsides. Also, find out who's ahead in the 'photo of the month' competition...

It's feast-time in the OUTDOORSmagic gallery now that a bumper haul of mountainsides, glaciers and lochs have landed on its pages. This could be because we've sorted out the gallery Terms and Conditions, so you retain all the rights over your own photos, except on the OUTDOORSmagic site itself. We can't sell them, auction them, flog them, make a million on them, run away with them, or anything horrendous like that. We weren't going to anyway, of course, but it's nice to have it set in stone. So, you're now free to upload landscapes all week, and go out walking in them all weekend, without any fear for the consequences (although we don't answer for broken limbs during the walking bit, I'm afraid:-)

There are still five pairs of Bridgedale Trekker socks up for grabs as well. Whoever's photo has accumulated the most votes by the end of the month will be the one signing for a very welcome, sock-filled, package. Who needs Santa, eh? At the moment Neil Higgins is still in the lead, on 10 votes, with his photo Langdale Pikes. There's plenty of time yet though.

Time to have a peep at the last week's highlights now...

One of OM's newest albums is Photos by Michael S, which includes this gem, amongst others. There's nothing quite like a moody sky for a good photo. Eyebrows knitted, brooding brow, ominous glare, the full works. Anyway, moving on from that flight of fancy ... Michael Sayles album is still pretty select, but it's not short on inspiration. Our favourite's the shot of Buttermere, with a row of trees mirror-imaged in it. Take your pick though.

Mark Pillinger's been one of the gallery's most avid users in the last couple of weeks. This photo is one of many recent additions to his Out & About in the UK and Further album. If anyone's getting snow withdrawal symptoms, after all the hot weather we've had recently, this could be the first step to a cure:-)

Steve Walton's another newcomer to the gallery but his Steve Walton images album has grown rapidly, so there's already plenty to see. If you fancy a quick tour of UK highlights, from Tryfan to the Yorkshire Three Peaks to this shot of Arran, then this is the place to look. There are a few icebergs floating around in it as well if you're in slightly more Polar mode.

Talking of ice, Marian Radu's seen plenty on her recent trip to The Alps. If it's been a while since you last made a trip down south to see mountain huts huddling in the snow, the writhing of glaciers, and the sunset over 3000m + peaks, then this is the place to refresh your memory.

Returning to warmer scenes, here's yet another popular photo from Marcus Crompton's album, Marcus. It's one of those albums where you just don't know which photo to look at first. To give you an idea: one of his photos has received 65 votes, 7 have over 30 votes, 19 are into double figures, and only 1 is unrated (mostly because it's only just been uploaded). This gives you an idea why.

And finally, this week's sunset comes from Mark Pillinger - again, from his album Out and about in the UK and further.

That's it for this week's round-up; thanks again for all the photos. A quick overview of gallery highlights is now a weekly feature, so you can catch up every Monday. In the meantime, the travel section might whet your appetite for a trip away; also, have a look at the routes section for walks and scrambles in the UK - better not miss all those cloud-free summits:-)

See you again in the gallery next week ...
