Rucksack full of local produce among prizes in Yorkshire Dales Park photo competition.
A rucksack full of local produce to keep you fuelled on your next photographic sortie is one of the prizes on offer in the ‘Your Yorkshire Dales National Park: a snapshot’ competition being run by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
The organisers say that entries are already flooding in, but with a closing date of 9 November, there's still plenty of time to get your images in. The photos, it says here, 'can be of any subject in the categories wildlife and habitats, people and places, fun and adventure, and farming, tourism and other employment.'
All images must have been taken within the National Park's boundaries and they can also be supported by 'a brief written summary of the photographer’s thoughts on what the area should offer for residents and visitors alike in years to come'.
Your images don't have to be relentlessly positive either. You can also capture negative aspects of life in the National Park, a shot, for example, of something that's obstructing a view or people's enjoyment of the area and should be removed.
There are both adult and under18 categories and winners will be rewarded with a spot in the Your Yorkshire Dales National Park photo exhibition at the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes, a framed copy of their winning image and the inclusion of the photo in the 2013 official guide to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. And of course, there's also that backpack full of local produce.
Finally the top five photos will also be turned into a postcard and sold at National Park Centres. We're guessing shots of ramshackle barns and similar eyesores won't be included...
