Just in case you've missed the news, Berghaus-sponsored climber Leo Houlding has just completed his long-standing project in Yosemite by free-climbing The Prophet on El Capitan in Yosemite with Jason Pickles.
Remarkably Leo's been working on the route for nine years. After coming close to climbing it in June, he vowed: ; 'We are going back in October when it cools down, rap in and lead the A1 beauty [a crack on the route] then do whole route from the ground again.'
Here are a couple of images from Alastair Lee who was on hand to film the project as part of his forthcoming PSYCHE II DVD, which is set to debut at the Kendal Mountain Festival later this month – Al's at the Banff Mountain Film Festival right now, but we guess he's going to be busy in the editing suite for the next couple of weeks.
His comments on the climb: 'One of the most amazing achievements by a Brit in free climbing history and some of the most amazing climbing you're ever likely to see...!'
There's a full report with some cracking images on the El Cap Report web site at www.elcapreport.com/content/elcap-report-102710/ looks astonishing and bodes well for Lee's film.
More about Psyche II with a preview video in an earlier OM blog – other climbers featured include Andy Kirkpatrick and Steve McClure.
