One for northern English OM diaries, with the news that the guys at ShAFF are running a Best Of Classics evening in Sheffield on Thursday 19 January.
The idea, as you might have guessed from the name, is to showcase a selection of classic films from past ShAFFs as a prelude to this year's event, which takes place over the weekend of 9-11 March.
Fittingly, one of the highlights is the excellent Seasons, a mountain biking classic featuring none other than Sheffield's very own downhill legend, Steve Peat, but there's lots more besides - trailer.
'Baffin Babes' for one, 'the epic adventure of four young Scandinavian women pushing themselves to the limit ski-trekking 1200km in 80 days across the Canadian Arctic' featuring polar bears, debilitating illness and sub-zero skinny dipping it says here. More about that in the video clip above...
And then there's 'Oil and Water Project', the story of two kayakers who travel from Alaska to Argentina championing the use of alternative energy and inadvertently becoming international celebrities along the way - trailer.
It's all happening at Sheffield's very own Showroom cinema and you can book via the web site at www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/shaffclassics or call the box office on 0114 275 7727. Start time is £7.70 and tickets are £7.70, less for OAPs, students and claimants.
