Make Grizedale Forest Chocolate Avalanche Cake and raise money for the Lake District - Christmas Recipe For 'Cakes For The Lakes'

The latest in the 'Cakes for the Lakes' recipes produced by conservation charity Friends of the Lake District is now available.

Donated by the Brewery Arts Centre's Café in the Forest at Grizedale, the Grizedale Forest Chocolate Avalanche Cake is a dark chocolate, coffee and brandy flavoured cake with an 'avalanche' of white marshmallow icing. The recipe is available now from Friends of the Lake District, and is free, in return for a pledge to raise some money for the landscape conservation charity.

Judith Moore from Friends of the Lake District said: 'We are really pleased that the Café in the Forest at Grizedale has joined in with Cakes for the Lakes. Grizedale Forest Chocolate Avalanche Cake would make a great alternative to traditional Christmas cake, especially if you are a chocolate fan! The Chocolate Avalanche Cake not only tastes amazing, but it looks fantastic too!'

Launched in November by Lisa Smith of Ginger Bakers, 'Cakes for the Lakes' is a collection of recipes by Cumbrian artisan bakers, cafes and teashops produced specially for Friends of the Lake District. The idea of 'Cakes for the Lakes' is for people to get a recipe from the Friends, bake a cake, invite friends and family around for a tea party and raise some money for Friends of the Lake District.

Judith Moore added: 'Cakes for the Lakes is all about celebrating local ingredients, skills and businesses. Baking has seen a recent revival and using one of our recipes is a great excuse to get together with family and enjoy a treat. Money raised will go towards work that Friends of the Lake District does to look after our fantastic landscape, such as planting trees and working with community groups."

OK, what's all the Mole (404 avoidance) about then???

Some people getting 404 errors when they try to read articles without any comments on them. Seems somewhat baffling really!
