John Beatty, world-classs, Peak-based outdoor and nature photographer will be lecturing as part of the Kinder 80 celebrations next week.

We've already previewed next week's Kinder 80 anniverary events, but we're shamelessly going to big up local wilderness and nature photographer John Beatty, who'll be presenting his Wild Vision audio visual showt the Hope Valley College, Hope at 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 25 (admission £3). Proceeds will go to the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation, and refreshments will be provided by the school Parent Teachers’ Association.

John's been all over the world, but he still has a huge emotional bond with his local hills and Kinder in particular. He graphically describes it in his excellent retrospective book, Wild Vision

“…the high plateau of Kinder Scout, with its dark blanket bog like a living sponge, defined around its edges by rocky outcrops, escarpments as familiar as close friends: Crowden Tower, Sandy Heys, Ashop Head, William Clough, whose gullies and wind-fretted tors have both challenged and sheltered me along the apprentice’s road to climbing and mountaineering.”
