Guests would be able to sleep while clipped in on artificial bivvy ledges. Erm, right...
'Hello, is that Barcelona Rock? Yes, I'd like to reserve a double bivvy ledge with a view of Las Ramblas please. Do we need to bring our own protection or is it fully bolted?'
Wew're indebted to the twittering Daily Mail readers over at the BMC - sorry guys, we're sure you found it by chance, honest - who tweeted a link to this surreal story from the paper's web site, an epic feature about a bizarre-looking Barcelona climbers hostel drawn up for a compeition.
The Polish-designed, 100-metre tall tower structure would allow guests to tie in and sleep on artificial bivvy ledges on the outside of the structure, which would be made from stone blocks modelled on the local mountain range. We don't know about that, but the Mail's photo of the 'summit' of the building looks disturbingly like the top of Stanage Edge in the Peak. Would you like some grit in your cafe con leche, madam?
Somehow we don't think it's going to happen any time soon, think concept design... You can find the full bizarre story over at www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2084246/Barcelona-Rock-hotel-climbers-planned-customers-sleep-rock-ledges.html
