Cameron McNeish's latest project is the Gore-Tex Scottish End-to-End Trail, an ambitious long-distance route linking existing routes to form a continuous walk along the length of Scotland.

'The substance of the Gore-Tex Scottish National Trail is to makes use of as many of these trails as possible, linking up existing routes to form a continuous route through the length of Scotland', writes Cameron McNeish in the prologue to his new trail guide out soon.

'My vision for the trail is a simple one – a route that ambitious backpackers can enjoy as a single entity, a walk that runs the length of the country taking in some of our most prized and wildest landscapes, or a series of routes that can be broken down into three or four different sections, each offering a challenging long distance walk in its own right.'

Which sounds good to us, a sort of Pennine Way on steroids if you like. You can read the entire prologue on Cameron's own web site at www.mountain-media.co.uk/blog/scotland-end-to-end-sample-chapter and very entertaining it is too.
