Hot news from Sprayway is that their crack design team is working on a new top secret project revolving around custom-made technical clothing, tailored exactly to the user's preferences and physiology.
It's taken hours of bribes and begging, but we've finally obtained scoop photos of the team measuring up elite outdoors activist, Patrick, a six-month-old black fur micro pig who 'works' at White's Outdoor Clothing in Ramsbottom as, erm, a marketing and publicity consultant.
Sprayway head designer, Julie Greengrass, has committed the full might of Sprayway's design team to gearing Patrick up for winter and the team spent a happy afternoon measuring him up for a custom made piggy fleece. And now Sprayway have his dimensions on file, other garments could follow.
Greengrass was reluctant to be drawn into speculation over the possible change of direction for the brand, but told us: 'He might get a couple of jackets, maybe a pile one from our new autumn/winter 2011 collection and a micro fleece for a micro pig. We're planning on making a pattern for him and then he can have anything he likes, even a softshell!'
We'd be very surprised if Patrick's influence doesn't become subtly apparent in the rest of Sprayway's new range and we're hoping to get our sticky trotters on an advance sample of the revoltionary new Boar-Tex hard shell jacket shortly, so watch this space.
Other than than that and the mooted micro pig fleece line, we're not quite sure where the special relationship between Patrick and Sprayway is going, but we're confident they'll cook up something interesting – sorry Patrick...
When Patrick's not being measured for custom clothing, he welcomes customers to the shop, eats, sleeps and is active on twitter where he declares himself: 'hot to trot and particular about my bananas.'
Tweeting as @whitesoutdoors, he's is followed by some of the biggest names in the outdoors including er, OutdoorsMagic and the MidgeForecast. You can pop in and see Patrick in person, erm 'in pig' at Whites Outdoors in Ramsbottom, more information at www.whitesoutdoors.co.uk.
We're hoping to fix up a full-on interview with Patrick in the New Year, so watch this space.
