Woot! It's Walk To Work Week!

Our good mates at the Department of Health tell us that this week is officially 'Walk To Work Week' with people generally being encouraged to reap the health benefits of incorporating a bit of a walk into their commute.

You could, of course, try walking the whole way in, but if you have a longer journey, we like the idea of hopping off the train or bus a few stops early and walk the rest of way. You could even get off a stop earlier every day to make it progressive.

Anyway, the bumpf is up above and down below too. And if you're a Londoner, you might be surprised at how compact the city is and what a pleasant change it makes to see it from the pavement - or pick out canals and off-road paths - rather from below someone's arm-pit on a crowded tube train...

I'll stick to my bike I think...

The kids' primary school give out WOW! badges, "WOW" being "Walk Once a Week" to try and encourage them out of parents' cars. Ours cycle in almost every day and got special dispensation to get the badges in the absence of COWs.
