A quick heads-up on the show-going front with a reminder that the
Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel Show dates for 2008 are
25-27 January.
Thie show is at the Islington Design Centre and, if previous years
are anything to go by, is an ideal way to whet your travel appetite
with a combination of adventure travel trade exhibitors and useful
information and entertainment courtesy of a programme of seminars and
speakers.
Highlights of the main theatre programme include legendary
mountaineer Doug Scott who's there on all three days of the
show talking about his outstanding climbing career, the notorious
epic on the Ogre and alpine-style Himalayan climbing.
Also appearing is Benedict Allen speaking on his various
wilderness trekking experiences and Ed Stafford and Luke Collyer who
are planning to walk from the source of the Amazon in southern Peru
to its mouth in Brazil completely unsupported and living off the
jungle.
Other theatres at the show will cover the practicalities of kit
choice, healthy travelling, travel photography and more. There's also
the opportunity to enroll in travel writing and photography seminars
with training agency Travellers Tales.
Adult tickets are £12 on the door but book in advance and you
pay £8.
There are full details at the show's website: www.adventureshow.co.uk.
