Sports giant adidas is throwing its weight behind an exciting new four-day, non-stop expedition race across Cumbria in August, 2010.

The adidas TERREX Adventure Race will include running, mountain biking, paddling and more, will take in some of the Lake District's most spectacular scenery.

Race planners are piecing together a 250-mile route which, says adidas, will take in every corner of the area: 'Teams can expect to traverse the fells by foot, swoop down the area’s best single track on a mountain bike and to paddle across the vast lakes – not to mention a few hidden surprises to keep the team on their toes."

All Levels

It's not just for experts though, the event is open to competitors at all levels of experience, with a challenging full course for elite and international race teams and a shorter course designed for novices, which will be around half the distance of the full route.

Robin Money, Head of Sports Marketing, adidas UK said "adidas is the Athletic brand in the Outdoors, and we are proud that the adidas TERREX Adventure Race will take place this August.   Our TERREX range of clothing, footwear and accessories is designed for exactly the type of challenge that this gruelling for-day race will throw at competitor. adidas wishes everyone good luck"

It will all kick off on Thursday 26 August from Keswick with a sort prologue which is open to everyone and free to enter - why not  have a go - with the race proper starting on the morning of Friday 26 August and continuing for the next four days.

Entry Details

The event is open to mixed teams of four people with an entry fee of £1350 per team - prologue is free to all - good navigation skills will be essential and the race will include fell running, mountain biking, kayaking, orienteering 'and a few surprises'.

If you're not sure you're up to it or are looking for some serious training, the organisers suggest having a crack at one or more of the Open Adventure Series of races - www.openadventure.com.

It looks like it should be a spectacular event in amazing scenery. More information and entry at www.adidas-ar.com.
