Just a quicky to remind you that the 2003 Adrenalin Rush adventure
race kicks off from Inverness at 18.00 on Sunday evening.
The race event should take the competitors - in teams of four,
including one lassie - between five and seven days to complete and is
the only major UK expedition-length race event. Disciplines include
trekking, ascending and descending fixed ropes, kayaking, swimming,
mountain biking and anything else the organisers decide to throw
in...
The 300-mile course is, naturally, a closely guarded secret, but
can be expected to take in just about any colossal natural obstacle
available, which means quite a few given the venue in the Scottish
highlands.
Teams from the UK, Canada, USA, Poland and France are in the
starting line up. There are racers from Italy, New Zealand and Hong
Kong too.
We'd love to tell you more, but frankly, if you want to know
what's what and follow the action as it unfolds, there's only one
place to be: sleepmonsters.com
Oh, one final word. Good luck to Team The North Face featuring
craggy TNF marketing supremo Keith Byrne and longstanding
OUTDOORSmagic member Chris McSweeney. Although they're far too modest
to say so, they're among the faves for the event, so we're expecting
a finish well up the leaderboard. More info on the team here.
