alan’s big walk

OUTDOORSmagic member and self-confessed 'beardy bloke with a problem belly' Alan Sloman is about to set off on an epic 1600-mile walk from Lands End to John O'Groats the hard way and all in a good cause.

Alan, who's part of the growing outdoor blogging community, is not only going to be walking from one end of the UK to the other starting tomorrow, Thursday, he's also contrived to take in the TGO Challenge along the way. That means a whacking great zig-zag across Scotland in addition to the normal linear route.

Reassuringly for anyone with fond memories of the Naked Rambler, our Alan will be fully clothed on the trail, and the sponsorship money he raises will be going to Sue Ryder Care. So far - and bear in mind that he hasn't even started walking yet - Alan's raised an impressive £2,295 and has increased his target to £3,500.

Definitely a good cause. You can find out how Alan's getting along at his very own blog at alansloman.blogspot.com where you can also find a link to his Just Giving page and his LEJOG schedule. LEJOG? That'll be Lands End to John O'Groats then.

Everyone here at OM wishes Alan all the best in his epic walk and we'll bring you the odd update as he blazes up the country :-)

Oh, and don't forget to make a donation, every little helps.

rofl...

Go on, JH, remind us all - which hyper-attentive literary giant did Alan leave in charge of his blog while he's away on his mega-stroll?

(Let's hope that he made a back-up before he left, eh?)
